Our commitment revolves around three pivotal areas: prevention, access, and intervention. Through these, we target the glaring health inequities prevalent within our communities.

Our Holistic Strategies:

  • Community-Designed and -Led Intervention: Tailoring solutions that are by the community, for the community.

  • One-to-One Support: Offering personalized assistance for health-related concerns.

  • Accompaniment: Being there for our community members every step of the way.

The Reality of Health Access

Health and COVID-19 prevention are foundations built on access to preventative medicine, screenings, and educational resources. However, the shadow of inhumane immigration laws casts a dark veil, creating significant gaps in healthcare access. The stark reality is that many adults in our community have limited or no interaction with healthcare professionals unless it's a dire emergency.

Our Concrete Steps Forward

Addressing these disparities starts with a simple yet crucial step: ensuring every adult has a primary care provider. We've made commendable progress in recent years, with numerous individuals accessing healthcare for the first time. Yet, the journey is ongoing. Our goal for 2025:

  • Support 250 adults in establishing consistent contact with primary care providers.

  • Assist in online medical chart navigation for seamless healthcare management.

  • Provide referrals, follow-up support, and ensure active participation in their health journey.

Championing Children's Health

We helped secure Medicaid (MaineCare) coverage for all children, as well as for those who are pregnant, regardless of immigration status. Our fight continues, as we strive to restore comprehensive healthcare access for everyone in Maine. To build on these efforts, we also address:

  • Broadening MaineCare Access: Ensuring that all eligible individuals in our community can access MaineCare, while also continuing to advocate for the elimination of existing coverage gaps.

  • Vaccination Outreach: Aiding new arrivals to Maine in getting up-to-date with their vaccinations, paving the way for a healthy start in school.

  • Barrier Mitigation: Tackling challenges from linguistic hurdles to administrative paperwork to ensure no child misses out on vital vaccinations.
