Communications & Development Manager

(he/him)

Tophe

Born in Texas and raised in Maine, Tophe’s journey intertwines adoption with an innate pull towards his biological, Mexican roots. While still navigating this personal exploration, his evolving understanding of identity and community deeply informs his work at Presente!

At American University in Washington, D.C., Tophe developed his advocacy and communication skills, while nurturing a desire to uplift historically marginalized voices and communities. After graduating, he returned to Maine and immersed himself in various grassroots movements in Portland, volunteering his time and support.

Tophe’s connection with Presente! began in 2020 as a volunteer with the Food Brigade, assisting in food rationing and distribution during the height of COVID-19. This experience deepened his conviction in the principle of solidarity over charity - which drives his work today. In 2023, he took on a formal role with Presente! as the new Communications Coordinator. Now serving as the Communications and Development Manager, Tophe passionately advocates for the community, works to amplify Presente’s story, and drive initiatives so the organization’s offerings can reach more people. He envisions a future marked by systemic changes where all can thrive, making roles like his unnecessary.

Outside of work, Tophe enjoys exploring new hiking trails across the state, quality moments with family, and, candidly, riding the emotional rollercoaster of his favorite sports teams.
