Nurturing Young & Expectant

Understanding Our Community's Needs

The majority of our community comprises younger adults, typically under 40. With many newer arrivals in their early 20s, we often encounter individuals arriving in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. These birthing individuals, largely identifying as women, play pivotal roles: they're the matriarchs, primary caregivers, and often the main breadwinners in their households.

Their well-being is tightly interwoven with the health of their families and the broader community. By bolstering the health and support for these central figures, we believe we can enhance the overall wellness of our entire community.

Addressing Disparities in Maternal and Child Health

Significant disparities exist in healthcare access for both birthing individuals and children. From contraception and preconception care to prenatal support and dignified childbirth experiences, the gaps are evident and pressing. Our commitment is to:

  • Educate & Provide Access: Improve the preconception health status by ensuring access and imparting education about contraception and family planning.

  • Empower Through Prenatal Care: Increase the number of women receiving early, comprehensive, and dignified prenatal care.

  • Child Health Initiatives: Ensure more children undergo screenings and evaluations for developmental delays and receive the necessary referrals.

  • Community Feedback: Establish a robust feedback mechanism where community insights are relayed to healthcare providers.

  • Culturally-Relevant Solutions: Consult on and implement community-driven solutions ensuring quality interpretation and culturally tailored care.

  • La Red Matriarchal: Forge a shared learning space that combines childbirth education with a critical analysis of systemic barriers, fostering both support and awareness.
